Zoom in AI video prompts: which docs use it

9 of the 24 models' docs use zoom: Adobe Firefly, Google Veo, Higgsfield, HunyuanVideo 1.5, Kling AI, Leonardo Motion 2.0, Luma Dream Machine, MiniMax Hailuo and Step-Video-TI2V. A zoom changes the focal length of the lens, enlarging or shrinking the subject without moving the camera. As of 2026-09-25.

A zoom changes the focal length of the lens, enlarging or shrinking the subject without moving the camera. The perspective stays flat, which reads differently from a dolly.

Inclusion rule. Models whose own docs define the word, list it as a command or preset, or use it in an example prompt. Order. Alphabetical by model name.

1How the docs use it

Adobe Firefly, Google Veo, Leonardo Motion 2.0 and Luma Dream Machine define it; Higgsfield lists it as a preset; HunyuanVideo 1.5 and Kling AI use it in an example; MiniMax Hailuo and Step-Video-TI2V list it as a command.

A word the docs define is one the maker explains to users. A command or preset is one the model is set up to perform on request. A word that appears only in an example prompt is one the maker shows working, without promising more.

The other 15 models' docs do not use it in the pages read: Grok Imagine, LTX, LTX Studio, Midjourney, Moonvalley Marey, Open-Sora 2.0 and others.

Zoom in: Move the camera lens closer to the subject, making it appear larger as the video proceeds.

2Camera language in a pipeline

Where “Zoom” has to be written by hand, SceneMixer's pipeline writes the shots; its guides explain:

The shot seconds in the storyboard add up to the segment length, so editing them changes it.

An AI short drama is a serialized show of 60–120 second vertical episodes whose cast, sets and footage are generated by AI. Making one takes six steps: analyze the script into episodes, lock a consistent cast with reference art, localize for your market, write and edit storyboards, generate each 4–15 second shot, then composite and publish.

3Neighbouring camera words

  • pull-out: A pull-out moves the camera away from the subject to reveal where it is, often closing a scene or showing isolation.
  • dolly zoom: A dolly zoom moves the camera one way while zooming the other, so the subject keeps its size while the background stretches or shrinks.
